Meet Dr. Richard S. Gillum
Education and Continuing Education
Dr. Gillum graduated with honors from Indiana University School of Dentistry. He earned the prestigious Gold Foil Operator’s Award for excellence in operative dentistry. Dr. Gillum was selected as a student instructor and continued as a part-time faculty member after graduation.
Continuing education combined with experience, skill, and the master of universal principles is the foundation of quality dentistry. He has completed hundreds of hours of coursework in Orthodontics, Six Month Smiles, TMJ Facial Pain, and Dental Sleep Medicine which treats Snoring & Sleep Apnea and offers a comfortable alternative to the traditional C-PAP Machine.
In addition to being a well-respected family dentist in Greenwood, Indiana, Dr. Gillum is recognized as a local expert in medically prescribed treatments for snoring and sleep apnea. We provide a comfortable and effective oral appliance alternative to CPAP for the treatment of Snoring and Sleep Apnea.
In 1992, Dr. Gillum completed a three-year course in applied nutrition and was awarded the title of Professor of Applied Nutrition with the American Health Science Institute. He read a number of articles every week to keep abreast of the newest developments in nutrition, dentistry, and sleep medicine.
Outside the Office
I believe that life is a gift we share in service to others. My office provides charitable dentistry to men in Wheeler Mission’s faith-based Alcohol and Drug Rehab Program. My staff selects a number of patients each year who cannot afford the treatments they need and provide them at nominal fee or free of charge. I am a member of Greenwood Toastmasters, an international organization dedicated to developing leadership and public speaking skills.
I reside in Center Grove with my wife, Shelley, and two of our six children. We have a lovely granddaughter named Kyla and a Maltese named Chloe. I am devoted to my family and spend my fair weather free time enjoying and improving our back yard getaway.
I enjoy moderate regular exercise, reading, nutrition, photography, landscaping, deck construction, and venturing to the island of St. Martin, which my wife and I visit each year to relax and renew with our island friends.
As you open you heart and expand your experience through the relentless search for truth you become conscious of life, self, and God.
